Joseph Woratschka

Joseph Woratschka, 80, of New Ulm died Monday, February 22, 2010 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass.
 
Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Thursday and 7:30 - 10 AM Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
 
 
Joseph is survived by his wife, Hildegard Woratschka of New Ulm; a son, Eric Woratschka of Fuerth, Germany; and by a sister, Evelyn Hamilton of Truman.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Valerian Woratschka.
 
Joseph Louis Woratschka was born April 7, 1929 in New Ulm to Edward and Louise (Hostelka) Woratschka. He served in the United States Army for 24 years, serving one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam as a practical nurse. Joseph was united in marriage to Hildegard Trapp on January 2, 1957 in Kitzingen, Germany. After his discharge from the army he worked as a nurse in German Hospitals for seven years and then other various jobs. After his retirement they moved to New Ulm in 1984. Joseph was also a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in his youth. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
